Band members, 2002
In 2002, Quarashi achieved what almost no Icelandic rap rock act had before: an American major-label deal. 'Jinx', released on Columbia and Time Bomb Recordings, became the band's US debut and introduced their sound to a global audience.
The lead single 'Stick 'Em Up' broke through everywhere — appearing in 2 Fast 2 Furious, the TV series Alias, Smallville, and NBA on TNT commercials. Suddenly the band from Reykjavík was on soundtracks and screens across America.
Jinx fused the band's hardest rock riffs with their sharpest hooks, and the world took notice. It remains the band's most internationally recognized record — the moment a basement project from a North Atlantic island went global.
