Rock On and Þjóðhátíð í Eyjum

In 2014, nine years after the breakup, Quarashi quietly resurfaced. Founding members Sölvi Blöndal and Steini Fjeldsted released 'Rock On' — the band's first new single since 2005, accompanied by a music video that found them reflecting on their history.

Around the single, the two sat down with The Reykjavík Grapevine for a sprawling retrospective on their music video legacy — from 'Switchstance' and the beer-soaked 'Catch 22' shoot to the nine-kilometre Steadicam run of 'Malone Lives'. The interviews made one thing clear: the story hadn't left them.

'Rock On' was never billed as a comeback — but it was the spark. Two years later, the fire would catch for real.
